I may be a little biased, but Crawloween is probably the best thing to do in San Francisco for Halloween if you are looking for a great party. Take a Halloween Cruise

Celebrate Halloween on the water in 2025 with a Halloween party cruise. Imagine setting sail under a moonlit sky, surrounded by fellow party people in their most creative costumes, while the gentle lull of the waves adds a backdrop to the night’s festivities. A Halloween party cruise is a fun experience blending the feel of a nightclub event and the fun of a cruise on the bay. These events are usually all-inclusive, so your ticket gets you food, drinks, music and a fun Halloween celebration.

Dance the Night Away at a Nightclub

When Halloween arrives, one way to embrace this spirit of enchantment is to head to one of San Francisco’s nightclubs. There will be a lot of great nightclub parties to choose from, so make sure to check out all of the options before you buy tickets.

Check out the best Halloween decorations in the Bay

Give your home a spooky makeover and let everyone know Halloween has arrived. Start with classics like carved or painted pumpkins, glowing string lights, and fake cobwebs on doors and windows. Add window clings of ghosts and bats or hang a giant skeleton on the porch for extra drama. Inside, swap out everyday décor for candlelit lanterns, black-and-orange table runners & creepy centerpieces. You can go subtle with just a few touches or transform your whole house with fog machines, sound effects and moving decorations. This is a great activity to do with kids or with friends. To make it even more fun for Halloween, connect with your neighbors to see if they want to join in on the fun and make the whole street look amazing for the holiday.

Escape rooms are exciting any time of year, but they’re even better during Halloween. Many venues create special haunted themes like creepy laboratories, scary carnivals or zombie bunkers. If you’re planning an party, Halloween-themed cocktails are a great way to show off your bartending skills. You can find recipes for pumpkin spice martinis, blood red sangria, a black vodka punch and more online. Add fun garnishes like gummy worms, candy eyeballs, or a rim of black sugar and use Halloween cups to complete the look. Amazon has all kinds of cool stuff from glasses to Halloween garnishes that be delivered the next day. For a dramatic effect, use dry ice to create a smoky, bubbling cauldron look. Buying Some Halloween Candy

Stocking up on candy is a must for Halloween. Head to your favorite shop and fill a basket with Snickers, Peanut Butter Cups, Skittles and all of your favorites so you’re ready for trick-or-treaters. Choose a mix of chocolate and non-chocolate items to make sure you have something for everyone. Also keep in mind that there are some food allergies (especially peanuts) so its best to separate the candy to keep everyone safe. Keep a bowl near the door for guests, or create individual treat bags (this sometimes helps with grabby teens who try to snag a handful. Just remember to buy a little extra for yourself, because sampling a piece or two is part of the tradition.

Noe Valley: 24th Street in Noe Valley bas been a popular place for a long time. There are lots of shops that give out candy and plenty of place to rest or even grab a bite to eat. Some of the side streets like Fair Oaks Street have lots of houses with great decorations that actively participate each year.

The streets are also blocked, so you don’t have to worry as much when your kids are running around on a sugar high.

Sea Cliff: A small, upscale neighborhood with incredible views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Sea Cliff is an extremely safe place to bring the kids for trick or treating. They are also know for giving out the full size candy bars (or so I’ve heard) so the kids will be quite pleased with their haul.

Halloween Guide for San Francisco: Spooky Fun in the Bay Area

Halloween is a fun holiday celebrated on the 31st of October every year. • The tradition of carving pumpkins originated in Ireland, where people would carve faces into turnips and potatoes. Candles were placed inside as a way to ward off evil spirits.
  • Pumpkins were used  for carving instead turnips and potatoes after the tradition moved to North America. Pumpkins were chosen because they were larger and easier to carve. They were also more readily available.
  • Trick or Treating was also based on a ritual from a long time ago. The tradition of kids asking for treats can be traced to “souling” in Europe. In the Middle Ages, children and the poor would go door to door on All Hallows’ Eve offering prayers for the dead in exchange for food or coins.
  • Ever wonder why the common colors for Halloween are black and orange? They were actually chosen for a reason. Black represents darkness and the end of summer, while orange symbolizes harvest and autumn’s changing leaves. The combination dates back to the original harvest festivals.
  • The word “Halloween” comes from “All Hallows’ Eve,” which was the evening before All Saints’ Day.
  • Black cats are often associated with Halloween because of their connection to witches and superstitions.
