San Francisco 49ers Games

49ers Games

If you live in the Bay Area, The San Francisco 49ers most likely bring back fond memories to the days of Joe Montana & Jerry Rice or the hopeful run with Colin Kaepernick at the helm, unless, of course, you were a die-hard Raiders fan. Either way, the 49ers, which were the first major professional sports team in the city, have definitely carved out a long and interesting history in the city by the bay. Even the team name pays homage to San Francisco and the “49ers” who came to the city in 1849 to try to strike it rich during the Gold Rush.

There have been a lot of changes in the San Francisco Bay Area, with the Raiders making the big move to Las Vegas, the Niners leaving the iconic Candlestick Park (RIP) and moving to a new, state-of-the-art stadium in Santa Clara, California and event the Golden State Warriors who left their home in Oakland to set up shop at the new Chase Center in SF. While the move to Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara definitely sparked some outrage among locals who wished to keep the team closer to the city, it doesn’t stop die hard fans from heading down to their new home to see games. And it isn’t the first time that the team moved since they were founded in 1946, they also moved from Kezar Stadium to Candlestick Park in 1971.

The San Francisco Bay Area is a great place for sports and have been blessed with a huge amount of Championships and home to some of the greatest teams and players in MLB, NBA, NFL and NHL history. The Niners have definitely held up their end as an amazing Bay Area team with a long list of accolades. The team won five Super Bowls between 1981 and 1994, which makes them tied with the Dallas Cowboys and just one win behind the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots for most Super Bowl wins. The Niners have made it to the big game a total of 7 times, as well as becoming division champions 20 times. These accomplishments were made possible by a long list of Hall of Famers who played for the team including Joe Montana, Steve Young, Jerry Rice, Fred Dean, Ronnie Lott and more.

Attending a San Francisco 49ers game at Levi’s Stadium is an amazing experience. The home of Super Bowl 50 in 2016, the stadium has all the bells and whistles you would expect from a new stadium built in the Silicon Valley. What it lacks in the old school charm of Candlestick Park, it makes up in the state-of-the-art design of the $1.2 Billion stadium, which features seating for over 68,500 fans (including 8,500 club seats and 165 luxury suites), 1.85 million square feet of usable space, a massive scoreboard, a 27,000 square foot green roof and solar panels, along with a great assortment of concessions, restaurants, bars and shops.

Seeing a game at Levi’s Stadium is great, but getting there can be a little difficult, especially for long term fans who live far from Santa Clara. Driving and parking at the stadium is fairly smooth, but there will be a lot of waiting in traffic. If you want to get the best experience, we recommend taking one of the Levi’s Stadium Shuttles from San Francisco, Oakland or Marin. M Ride, one of the best transportation companies in the San Francisco Bay  Area offers round-trip transportation to the games as well as private charters for groups.
