National Cheddar Day is a deliciously cheesy celebration of one of the world’s most popular cheeses, cheddar. This holiday, observed annually on February 13th, pays homage to the rich, sharp, and sometimes smooth taste of cheddar cheese, which has found its way into the hearts and dishes of culinary enthusiasts everywhere. Originating in the English village of Cheddar in the 12th century, cheddar cheese has become a staple in kitchens & cuisines worldwide.

National Cheese Day is a weird kind of holiday, but the CrawlSF Team likes to hunt down all of these odd celebrations and then search for some great tie-ins to the San Francisco Bay Area. From cheese-making classes at The Cheese School of San Francisco (yes, this is a real thing) to grabbing a few options from your favorite cheese shop, there is plenty of cheddar goodness in San Francisco.

Cheddar Cheese Recommendation:

If you are looking for an amazing cheddar cheese to try on National Cheddar Day, our absolute favorite is Prairie Breeze from Milton Creamery in Iowa. We were lucky enough to find this gem at Epicurean Trader on Union Street, but it may be available at some other cheese shops in the area.
