Some of hip-hop’s most powerful voices both on and off the stage hit the road for The Art of Rap tour, which makes a stop at The Warfield in San Francisco for a night of fiery rhymes and insightful knowledge. Golden age of rap superstars Public Enemy lead the bill, with booming MC Chuck D and whirlwind Flavor Flav performing huge hits like “Shut ‘Em Down” and “911 Is a Joke.” Also hitting the stage is veteran rapper Ice-T, who was the first major voice to come out of L.A. with songs like “Colors” and “High Rollers,” plus Naughty by Nature, who had classic party anthems “O.P.P.” and “Hip Hop Hooray,” and hip-hop pioneers GrandMaster Melle Mel and Scorpio.
