Jake Xerxes Fussell with Dougie Poole

Experience an evening of distinctive American roots music when Jake Xerxes Fussell and Dougie Poole take the stage on Wednesday, November 11, 2026. With their unique approaches to folk, country, and traditional music, the two artists promise a night that blends timeless sounds with contemporary perspective, inviting audiences into worlds shaped by storytelling, atmosphere, and deeply human emotion.

Jake Xerxes Fussell is celebrated for his singular interpretation of traditional American songs. Drawing from an extensive knowledge of folk, blues, country, and regional musical traditions, Fussell approaches familiar and obscure material with curiosity and sensitivity. Rather than simply recreating songs from the past, he gives them room to breathe, finding unexpected beauty in their melodies and lyrics while allowing the history behind them to resonate with modern listeners. His understated yet expressive performances create an intimate atmosphere where every detail matters, from a carefully chosen lyric to the subtle movement of a melody.

Joining him is Dougie Poole, whose music brings a distinctive modern voice to the traditions of country and American songwriting. Poole’s work combines classic country textures with reflective, sometimes surreal storytelling, creating songs that can feel both familiar and completely unexpected. His distinctive perspective and warm, unhurried approach make him a compelling addition to an evening focused on the enduring possibilities of roots music.

Together, Fussell and Poole offer a compelling meeting of musical traditions and contemporary songwriting. The evening is an opportunity to slow down and immerse yourself in performances where craft, character, and storytelling take center stage.

Whether you are a longtime follower of folk and country music or simply looking for an intimate night of exceptional live performance, this double bill offers plenty to discover.
