Fillmore Jazz Festival

If you combine the sweet sound of live jazz music, the fun feels of San Francisco street fairs, some tasty treats from local restaurants, artisan crafts and maybe a delicious glass of wine or an ice-cold beer, then you have the recipe for one of the best annual events in San Francisco. The Fillmore Street Jazz Festival is one of the amazing street fairs that happen every year in San Francisco. It takes place in the Lower Pacific Heights neighborhood, where 12 blocks of Fillmore Street (between Jackson & Eddy Streets) are blocked off to make room for food trucks, gourmet food booths, vendor booths, beer gardens and stages.

The history of the festival dates back to 1986, when the inaugural festival was held. Although the first few festivals were a lot smaller in size, the event gained recognition through the 90s and expanded rapidly, getting bigger and bigger every year. Today, it has grown to be the largest free jazz festival on the West Coast.

An estimated 100,000 people attend the iconic jazz festival, which takes place over Independence Day weekend every year. The two-day event features a great combination of well-known jazz musicians and rising talent in the genre playing on several stages as well as a great local food selection, bars serving beer, wine & cocktails, art & photography available for purchase and a diverse selection of local artisan crafts and products.
