Event Details:

Date: Saturday, October 26

Time: 8:00 PM

Location:

Fort Mason Center, San Francisco

Cast: Basel Al-Naffouri, Derek Yee, Karen Brelsford, Lisa Wang, Paul Killam, William Hall

Live Improvised Lighting: Craig Good

In this clever and playful format, a talented cast of six improvisers, including Basel Al-Naffouri, Derek Yee, Karen Brelsford, Lisa Wang, Paul Killam, and William Hall, will create a series of bite-sized scenes (3-5 minutes) inspired entirely by audience suggestions. Each scene delves into the spooky, the strange, and the hilariously absurd—whether it’s a haunted house, a vampire’s dating dilemma, or monsters navigating modern life. The twist? Every time the improvisers use a suggestion, the lucky audience member who shouted it out gets a piece of candy—because no Halloween celebration is complete without a little sugar rush.

What makes this event truly special is its unpredictability. The scenes may veer from the eerie to the heartwarming, mixing genres like horror, sci-fi, and supernatural farce. Imagine a love story between a mummy and a werewolf, or a gothic tale set in a crumbling castle where things may—or may not—go bump in the night. And with live improvised lighting by Craig Good, every moment is illuminated with spontaneity and suspense, adding to the immersive atmosphere.

Co-directors Karen Brelsford and Derek Yee envisioned the format as a fun, interactive way to embrace the Halloween spirit. “We wanted to create a show that celebrates the season with a little something for everyone,” says Brelsford. “It’s light, it’s spooky, and it’s a chance to let your imagination run wild.”

With costumes encouraged and audience participation at the heart of the show, this is a Halloween event that’s suitable for all ages, making it an ideal destination for families, friends, or anyone looking for a frightfully fun Saturday night. Plus, did we mention there’s free candy?
