Get ready for an immersive night of shoegaze, noise-pop, heavy guitars, and experimental energy when Tanukichan takes the stage with Badvril and Stargirl Mare on Saturday, December 12, 2026. Doors open at 8:00 PM, with the show beginning at 8:45 PM. This all-ages concert brings together artists with distinctly creative approaches to guitar-driven music, promising an evening that moves between hazy atmosphere, crushing riffs, and boundary-pushing sound.

Tanukichan is the solo project of Bay Area native Hannah van Loon, a classically trained musician whose relationship with guitar began after discovering the music she jokingly describes as “dad rock.” During her adolescence, van Loon taught herself guitar by listening closely to records and recreating riffs and chords from bands including The Beatles and Incubus. That hands-on approach helped shape the distinctive sound she would eventually develop as Tanukichan.

Her breakout debut album, Sundays, earned enthusiastic critical attention, with Pitchfork praising its ability to capture both the openness and uncertainty of a wide-open day, while Rolling Stone highlighted its forceful riffs, tight grooves, and expansive guitar anthems.

With her 2023 sophomore album, GIZMO, Tanukichan expanded beyond the eerie shoegaze foundation of her earlier work. The record incorporates grunge influences, industrial synthesizers, nu-metal basslines, and electric guitar, building toward a dense and captivating wall of sound. Her 2024 EP, Circles, pushes that evolution even further, embracing a larger-scale sonic approach that feels more like a high-speed nighttime drive than the hazy dreaminess of her earlier material.

Opening the night is Badvril, a San Francisco-based noise-pop project that describes its sound as “backwoods rock.” Led by singer Becket Schroeder, the project combines music, film, art, and fashion into an immersive creative world. Its DIY roots trace back to rural Eastern Washington, where Schroeder learned to build stages, create merchandise, and record music using whatever resources were available.

Since forming in 2022, Badvril has toured throughout the United States, performing in settings ranging from DIY venues to a yo-yo competition, and even debuted its album In Heaven live for inmates at Washington State Prison.

For local music fans, this bill offers a chance to experience artists who approach alternative music with imagination, independence, and a willingness to push sound in unexpected directions. Come ready for a night of textured guitars, experimental production, intense rhythms, and immersive performance.

Mark Saturday, December 12, on your calendar. With doors at 8:00 PM and the show at 8:45 PM, Tanukichan, Badvril, and Stargirl Mare are set to create an all-ages evening where shoegaze atmosphere meets noise-pop intensity and a distinctly DIY spirit.
