A John Waters Christmas

A John Waters Xmas

Get ready for a wickedly funny, wonderfully irreverent holiday tradition when legendary filmmaker, artist, author, and provocateur John Waters brings his annual one-man show, A John Waters Christmas, to the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco on Monday, November 30, 2026.

Known for his outrageous sense of humor, fearless storytelling, and delightfully unconventional perspective, John Waters turns the traditional holiday season upside down with a Christmas show that is anything but ordinary. Instead of sentimental carols and predictable holiday cheer, audiences can expect Waters’ signature blend of sharp observations, outrageous stories, mischievous humor, and twisted seasonal commentary.

A John Waters Christmas has become a celebrated holiday tradition for audiences who prefer their festivities with a little more attitude. Waters embraces the contradictions of the season, finding comedy in holiday traditions, family dynamics, social expectations, bad behavior, and all the wonderfully strange characters who make Christmas what it is. His unique ability to transform everyday observations into hilarious and unexpected stories makes every performance feel like a conversation with the most entertaining troublemaker at the holiday party.

As Waters himself might suggest, people who dislike Christmas may be horrified—but those with a taste for dark humor, unconventional comedy, and outsider culture will find plenty to celebrate. His notorious Christmas list is filled with delinquent delights, and audiences are invited to discover exactly what has earned them a place on it.

Taking place at the historic Great American Music Hall, the evening offers the perfect setting for this offbeat holiday spectacle. Whether you’re a longtime John Waters fan or looking for an alternative to traditional seasonal entertainment, this is a chance to experience Christmas through one of America’s most distinctive comedic voices.
