A watermelon eating contest is also scheduled as part of the afternoon program, adding another fun community competition to the holiday.

The festivities resume later in the day at College Park High School. The evening fireworks viewing party begins at 6:30 p.m. with music, food, desserts, and space for guests to settle in before the nighttime show. Fireworks are scheduled to begin at approximately 9:15 p.m.
