Start your weekend with movement at Below the Belt + Aligned – Pilates: Weekly Fitness Classes at Thrive City. Presented by Kaiser Permanente, this free fitness series brings a range of accessible workouts to the Bay Area community throughout September, October, and November. The classes are open to all fitness levels, offering a welcoming environment for participants who want to build strength, improve conditioning, or simply add more movement to their routine.
The morning features two complementary sessions. From 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Below the Belt – HIIT focuses on the lower body and core. This energetic conditioning class combines exercises designed to challenge the legs, glutes, and abdominal muscles, creating a workout that emphasizes strength and endurance. Participants can expect an active start to the morning and a focused session designed to get the body moving.
The second class, Aligned – Pilates, runs from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. This Pilates-inspired workout combines core conditioning with an added element of fitness intensity. The class provides an opportunity to work on controlled movement, stability, and core strength while maintaining the upbeat pace of the morning’s programming. Participants can attend either session or stay for both to experience the two different approaches to fitness.
Leading the classes is Jai Mac Neil, a professor in the Kinesiology Department and Change Institute at the University of San Francisco. She is the creator and facilitator of the Self-Transformation Empowerment Program at USF, which focuses on empowering students and developing leadership. Mac Neil also works as a performance coach for the Golden State Warriors, motivational speaker, and mindset specialist. Her professional clients and collaborators have included organizations across sports, fitness, education, healthcare, media, and business.
Participants should bring a water bottle and exercise mat. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking is available seven days a week at the Chase Center Garage at 99 Warriors Way.
