Luna Mexicana Brings a Vibrant Día de los Muertos Celebration to Oakland
Oakland will come alive with color, music, movement, and community when Luna Mexicana takes the stage at the Paramount Theatre on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 7:30 PM. Celebrated as one of the Bay Area’s most elaborate and inclusive Día de los Muertos events, Luna Mexicana offers an immersive evening inspired by a cherished Mexican tradition—one that honors family, remembers loved ones, and celebrates life through art and togetherness.
The event brings together many of the elements that make Día de los Muertos such a visually and emotionally powerful celebration. Audiences can expect exuberant dance, joyful music, colorful costumes, flowers, candlelight, food, and an atmosphere centered on family and community. Rather than simply presenting a performance, Luna Mexicana creates a festive experience where music and dance become part of a broader cultural celebration.
The Paramount Theatre provides a particularly fitting setting for the occasion. Known for its ornate architecture and distinctive atmosphere, the historic Oakland venue adds a sense of grandeur to an event already filled with vibrant visual and artistic traditions. The combination of the theatre’s dramatic surroundings and Luna Mexicana’s colorful presentation makes for an evening designed to engage the senses as much as the emotions.
The celebration continues after the main event with Oakland Ballet’s Encore Celebration, an intimate reception featuring Oakland Ballet Company artists at the Paramount Theatre. Catered by local restaurant Agave Uptown, the reception gives guests an opportunity to continue the evening through conversation, light refreshments, and community while celebrating Mexican heritage.
Luna Mexicana is proudly sponsored by PG&E. An Early Bird Special is available from Saturday, August 1 at 10:00 AM through September 7 at 11:59 PM, with no promotional code required.
For Oakland audiences looking for an evening that combines performing arts, cultural tradition, and community celebration, Luna Mexicana promises a memorable Día de los Muertos experience filled with energy, beauty, and heart.
