Playing the violin since he was just 8 years old, New Yorker Damien Escobar (aka Dame Esco) has made quite a name for himself in the music industry. From humble beginnings, Damien and his brother, Tourie, started playing as street musicians in the New York Subway System and at Grand Central Station. As the grind continued, they formed a group called Nuttin But Stringz in 2003, which led to winning a contest at The Apollo Theater, an appearance in the hit film “Step Up” in 2006, won 2 Emmys, took 3rd place in the show America’s Got Talent in 2008 and was even asked to play at the First Inauguration for Barack Obama, won two Emmys as well. Even after all of the success, Escobar decided to hang it up and switch careers, eventually becoming a Real Estate broker. Lucky for us, that decision was short lived and he started on his solo career, playing a combination of pop, hip-hop, classical, jazz and more with his crossover violin style. If you want to see this brilliant performer live, he is making a stop at The Blue Note in Napa for two night on August 12 and August 13.
