Find Your Strength at Thrive City’s Yoga Core Class

For those looking to build strength, improve balance and find a little more focus in the middle of a busy week, Thrive City’s Weekly Fitness Classes, presented by Kaiser Permanente, offer a welcoming way to get moving with the Bay Area community. Running throughout September, October and November, the free fitness series features professional instructors and a variety of classes designed to accommodate participants at every level.

One of the standout offerings is Yoga Core, a dynamic, core-focused session designed to challenge both body and mind. Rather than emphasizing flexibility alone, the class combines powerful yoga sequences and sustained holds to engage the core, develop balance and strengthen overall body control. Participants can expect a workout that puts posture and stability front and center while still maintaining the centered, mindful qualities associated with yoga. The goal is to leave feeling stronger, more confident and grounded.

Leading the session is Cecily Guest, a veteran Bay Area yoga and fitness instructor with three decades of experience working with major fitness brands and corporate audiences. Her approach to movement draws from a broad range of disciplines, including dance, Pilates, martial arts, personal training and yogic traditions. Returning for her third year of Thrive City classes, Guest also teaches at Equinox Fitness and leads workshops and yoga retreats throughout California. Her extensive certifications include A.C.E., AFAA, Yoga Fit, Diablo Yoga Center, SCW Pilates and Reebok Indoor Cycling.

The class takes place in the Esplanade at the corner of Warriors Way and Terry A. Francois Boulevard, giving participants the chance to exercise outdoors in a vibrant community setting. The classes are free and open to all experience levels, making them suitable whether you are a regular fitness enthusiast or just beginning your wellness journey.

Participants should bring a yoga mat and a bottle of water and arrive prepared to move. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis, so early arrival is recommended. Guests driving to Thrive City can park at the Chase Center Garage at 99 Warriors Way, which is open seven days a week.

With expert instruction, an energetic yet mindful workout and an inviting outdoor venue, Yoga Core is a chance to strengthen your body while connecting with a community committed to moving, growing and feeling better together.
