They Might Be Giants is Coming to The Fillmore

For over four decades, They Might Be Giants have been rewriting the rules of what a band can be. On May 9th, the legendary duo of John Linnell and John Flansburgh kicks off the first of two nights at The Fillmore with The Big Show Tour, a title as fitting as it is tongue-in-cheek.
TMBG’s blend of absurdist humor, intellectual wordplay, and genre-hopping sound has made them an institution for fans of clever, off-kilter pop. From quirky classics like “Birdhouse in Your Soul” and “Don’t Let’s Start” to cult-favorite deep cuts, their live shows are sprawling, joyous celebrations of music that refuses to fit into a box. Expect horns, a backing band firing on all cylinders, and plenty of between-song banter that feels as much like stand-up comedy as it does rock ‘n’ roll.

The Big Show lives up to its name: Two full sets, no opener, and a setlist that careens across decades of music—equal parts nostalgia and proof that TMBG are as inventive and vital as ever. Whether you’re an OG fan who still remembers their Dial-A-Song days or you’ve discovered them through their endlessly charming kids’ records, this show promises something for everyone: oddball charm, airtight musicianship, and the kind of unabashed fun that live music is made for.

And then there’s The Fillmore, the iconic venue where counterculture and creativity collide. It’s the perfect place to see a band whose very existence has always felt like a playful rebellion.
Night one is your chance to join the weird, wonderful party that TMBG has been throwing for years. You don’t want to miss it—because who knows when you’ll get another invitation this good.
