The band was formed in 1981 when long time friends Chris Lowe and Neil Tennant decided to combine their unique styles and start creating music. Their long and impressive career earned them the title of #1 Dance Duo/Group in Billboard Magazine, taking into account all the acts since the first chart in 1976. Additionally, Pet Shop Boys are listed as the UK’s most successful duo in The Guinness Book of World Records. Needless to say, they have definitely achieved legendary status in the music industry.

Their list of accolades is long since their first studio album in 1986. The band has sold over 100 million albums worldwide and boast 6 Grammy nominations, three Brit Awards and 22 top ten singles, including four #1 singles in the UK charts. 

Even after 40 years, the Pet Shop Boys are still touring and releasing music, with their most recent album, “Hotspot”, released in 2020.
