Mastodon with Deafheaven and Alcest — San Francisco

On Friday, October 9, 2026, GRAMMY® Award-winning metal and progressive rock powerhouse Mastodon comes to San Francisco for a major live performance featuring Deafheaven and Alcest. Doors open at 6:00 PM, with the show beginning at 7:00 PM. The lineup brings together three distinctive forces in heavy music, offering audiences an evening that moves across progressive metal, sludge, post-metal, blackgaze, and atmospheric rock.

Since forming in Atlanta in 2000, Mastodon have developed a reputation as one of modern rock and metal’s most adventurous bands. Their music combines intricate musicianship, powerful riffs, progressive arrangements, and expansive storytelling. Albums such as Leviathan, Crack the Skye, The Hunter, Once More ‘Round the Sun, and Emperor of Sand have helped establish the band’s lasting influence, with Leviathan earning recognition among the greatest metal albums of all time.

Mastodon’s career has also included multiple GRAMMY® nominations and a win for Best Metal Performance for “Sultan’s Curse.” Their ninth studio album, Hushed and Grim, continued that evolution, earning a No. 1 debut on the Billboard Hard Rock Albums chart and demonstrating the band’s ability to balance crushing rockers with expansive, emotionally layered compositions.

Joining Mastodon are Deafheaven, known for blending elements of black metal with shoegaze, post-rock, and alternative music, and Alcest, whose atmospheric approach incorporates black metal, dreamlike textures, and ethereal melodies. Together, the supporting acts create a diverse musical landscape that complements Mastodon’s progressive approach while giving fans an opportunity to experience three distinct interpretations of heavy music.

The concert promises a dynamic live experience, moving between enormous guitar-driven passages, intricate rhythms, atmospheric soundscapes, and emotionally charged performances. Mastodon’s extensive catalog gives the headline set plenty of material to explore, from early landmark releases to more recent work.

For fans of progressive and experimental heavy music, this San Francisco performance offers a rare opportunity to see three influential bands on one bill. With doors at 6:00 PM and the concert beginning at 7:00 PM on October 9, 2026, Mastodon, Deafheaven, and Alcest are set to deliver an expansive night of heavy music, atmosphere, and boundary-pushing musicianship.
