Prepare for an evening of adventurous, boundary-pushing music when L’Rain takes the stage with ZAYALLCAPS on Wednesday, December 2, 2026. Doors open at 7:00 PM, with the show beginning at 8:00 PM. The event is all ages, making it an opportunity for a broad audience to experience an artist whose work challenges familiar ideas about genre, performance, and contemporary music.
L’Rain is the musical project of Taja Cheek, a Brooklyn-raised multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, and curator whose creative work moves fluidly between music and the wider worlds of art, film, fashion, and cultural discourse. Her approach is difficult to place in a single category—and that is part of the appeal. L’Rain embraces experimentation while maintaining an emotional and often immersive quality.
Cheek’s musical background is defined by striking contrasts. Classically trained but deeply connected to Brooklyn’s DIY noise community, she draws inspiration from both lush orchestration and rough-edged tape loops. Her work explores the spaces between these extremes, using distortion, feedback, texture, and unconventional structures to create something unpredictable yet deeply considered.
With collaborators Ben Chapoteau-Katz and Andrew Lappin, Cheek has developed L’Rain’s distinctive sound into something described as intense, playful, seductive, and deeply personal. Rather than following conventional pop structures, the project deconstructs familiar musical ideas and rebuilds them through an impressionistic, experimental lens. Its relationship to Black American musical traditions adds another important dimension, challenging expectations about what experimental music can sound like and where it can go.
Cheek is also currently the artistic director of Performance Space NY and is preparing the release of L’Rain’s fourth album, fata morgana. Her broader creative practice is grounded in community-building and an engagement with questions surrounding structural inequality, making the project as culturally engaged as it is musically adventurous.
For audiences interested in experimental sounds, interdisciplinary art, or performers who approach music as a space for discovery, this concert offers a compelling night out. L’Rain with ZAYALLCAPS promises an experience shaped by texture, contrast, experimentation, and creative freedom.
Mark your calendar for Wednesday, December 2. With doors at 7:00 PM and music beginning at 8:00 PM, this all-ages performance invites listeners to step outside familiar musical boundaries and experience a distinctive contemporary voice at work.
