Bring the family to Little Bears Music Class at Thrive City in San Francisco for a lively, interactive introduction to music designed especially for young children and their caregivers. This family-friendly program combines singing, movement, rhythm, and playful musical exploration to help children develop an appreciation for music while expressing themselves in a welcoming community setting.
The Little Bears Music Class is divided into two sessions by age, allowing children to participate in activities suited to their stage of development. The 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. session is designed for babies and toddlers ages 3 and under, with activities centered on early socialization, rhythm, melody, and musical discovery. The 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. session welcomes preschoolers ages 4 to 6, offering a more age-appropriate opportunity to explore musical patterns, movement, singing, and creative expression.
Leading the classes is Teacher Barb, a guitar-playing musician who brings a broad musical background to her work with children and families. Her repertoire includes rock ’n’ roll, country, folk, blues, and jazz classics, along with original songs created specifically for young audiences. Her approach encourages children and caregivers to participate together rather than simply observe.
During the class, children can sing, dance, clap, explore different beats, feel the rhythm, and discover rhyming patterns. These activities make music an engaging way for young participants to build confidence, interact with others, and develop an understanding of rhythm and melody. The relaxed format also gives parents and caregivers an opportunity to share a creative experience with their children.
After the Little Bears Music Class, families can extend their visit to Thrive City by stopping for lunch, snacks, or treats at the plaza’s restaurants and bars. Parking is available seven days a week at the Chase Center Garage at 99 Warriors Way.
