Groundation

Get ready for an unforgettable evening of roots reggae, jazz-inflected rhythms, and deeply soulful live music as KALX & GAMH present Groundation with The Quasi Kings on Sunday, October 4, 2026. With more than two decades of music-making and performances spanning 35 countries across five continents, Groundation brings a rich history, expansive musicianship, and unmistakable live energy to the stage for a special night of reggae and roots music.

Groundation emerged in 1998 when founding member Harrison Stafford began developing a roots reggae and jazz fusion project with fellow students in the Jazz Performance program at Sonoma State University. That combination of musical sophistication and deep respect for reggae tradition has remained central to the band’s identity. Over the years, Groundation has released 10 studio albums, built a devoted international following, and become a major presence at reggae festivals around the world.

Fans can expect an immersive performance featuring Groundation’s signature blend of complex arrangements, moving melodies, conscious songwriting, and roots reggae grooves. The band’s music explores themes of the human condition, spirituality, resilience, and the state of the world, creating a concert experience that is as thoughtful as it is danceable. Their acclaimed catalog includes Hebron Gate, widely regarded as a landmark in roots reggae, as well as more recent releases such as One Rock and Dreaming From An Iron Gate.

Joining Groundation for the evening is The Quasi Kings, adding another exciting dimension to the lineup and helping create a full night of live music.

The event takes place on Sunday, October 4, 2026, with doors opening at 7:00 PM and the show beginning at 8:00 PM. Advance tickets are $30, while tickets purchased at the door are $35. Tickets go on sale Friday, June 26 at 10:00 AM.

Whether you’re a longtime reggae devotee or simply looking for an inspiring Sunday night of live music, this performance offers a chance to experience one of American roots reggae’s most enduring and adventurous groups.
