Formed around guitarist John Pita, City of the Sun has developed a distinctive musical identity built from expressive guitar work, dynamic percussion, and carefully layered arrangements. Drummer Zach Para later joined the project, followed by bassist Matt Fasano and guitarist Marco Bolfelli, creating the four-piece lineup that has helped shape the band’s expansive sound. Their music moves fluidly between intimate passages and sweeping instrumental sections, creating an experience that can feel more like stepping into a film than attending a conventional rock concert.

Under the Moon represents a new chapter for the group, with the album produced by Phil Ek, whose credits include work with Fleet Foxes, Father John Misty, and Built to Spill. The new album continues an artistic journey that began with the band’s 2016 debut, To The Sun and All the Cities in Between. City of the Sun followed that release with its self-titled album in 2020 and Segunda Alma in 2022, steadily developing an international following drawn to the group’s ability to blend cinematic atmosphere with musicianship.
