Goldenvoice Presents Essex Honey Tour: Blood Orange on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, for an immersive evening of soulful sounds, atmospheric production, and genre-defying artistry. Doors open at 7:00 PM, with the show beginning at 8:00 PM. The event is open to ages 6 and up.

At the center of Blood Orange is Devonté Hynes, the London-born producer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, director, and vocalist whose distinctive creative vision has made him one of the most influential voices in contemporary music. Raised in England by Guyanese and Sierra Leonean immigrant parents, Hynes began his musical journey as a teenage punk with the UK band Test Icicles before developing his sound further as Lightspeed Champion. In 2011, he introduced the world to Blood Orange with Coastal Grooves, beginning a celebrated solo career built around lush arrangements, intimate songwriting, and deeply personal storytelling.

Hynes reached new creative heights with the critically acclaimed 2016 album Freetown Sound, a powerful exploration of identity, race, memory, and life as a Black man in America. He continued those themes on 2018’s Negro Swan, which examined Black depression, vulnerability, and identity through a richly textured blend of R&B, soul, pop, electronic music, and experimental sounds. His 2019 mixtape Angel’s Pulse served as an epilogue to Negro Swan, expanding on its emotional and artistic themes.

Beyond his own recordings, Hynes has collaborated with an impressive range of artists, including Solange Knowles, FKA twigs, A$AP Rocky, Mariah Carey, and Janet Mock, among many others. His talents also extend into film and visual art, having composed scores for Palo Alto and Queen & Slim, directed and edited Blood Orange music videos, and created a video for Beck’s “Uneventful Days.”
