Goldenvoice Presents Essex Honey Tour: Blood Orange on Thursday, September 10, 2026, for an immersive evening of soulful sounds, atmospheric textures, and genre-defying artistry. Doors open at 7:00 PM, with the show beginning at 8:00 PM. The event is open to ages 6 and up.
At the heart of Blood Orange is Devonté Hynes, the London-born producer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, director, and vocalist whose remarkable career has made him one of the most distinctive creative voices in contemporary music. Raised in England by Guyanese and Sierra Leonean immigrant parents, Hynes began his musical journey as a teenage punk in the UK band Test Icicles before exploring a more orchestral, acoustic sound as Lightspeed Champion.
In 2011, Hynes launched his Blood Orange project with Coastal Grooves, beginning a celebrated run of music that blends elements of R&B, soul, pop, electronic music, and experimental composition. His acclaimed 2016 album Freetown Sound established him as a major musical voice, offering a deeply personal exploration of race, identity, memory, and the experience of being Black in America. He continued that introspective journey with Negro Swan in 2018, examining themes of Black identity, vulnerability, and depression through lush, emotionally resonant production.
His 2019 mixtape Angel’s Pulse served as an epilogue to Negro Swan, further developing the ideas and sonic world of its predecessor. Beyond his own recordings, Hynes has collaborated with an extraordinary range of artists, including Solange, FKA twigs, A$AP Rocky, Mariah Carey, and Janet Mock, demonstrating his versatility as both a performer and creative collaborator.
Hynes’ artistry extends well beyond music. He has composed scores for the films Palo Alto and Queen & Slim, directed and edited Blood Orange music videos, and directed a video for Beck’s “Uneventful Days.” He has also performed alongside legendary composer Philip Glass at the Kennedy Center.
Now, Blood Orange brings this expansive creative vision to the stage for the Essex Honey Tour. Experience an evening of richly layered sound, intimate storytelling, and innovative artistry from one of contemporary music’s most compelling performers. Join Blood Orange live on September 10, 2026, for a night that celebrates music without boundaries.
