An Evening with David Sedaris

Spend an evening with acclaimed humorist and social satirist David Sedaris when An Evening with David Sedaris comes to San Francisco’s War Memorial Opera House on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 8:00 PM PT. Part of a touring engagement, this live talk and reading offers audiences an opportunity to hear Sedaris deliver new material in his unmistakably witty and observant style.

Known for transforming everyday experiences into sharp, often unexpected comedy, Sedaris has built a career around storytelling that can be both hilarious and thought-provoking. His work frequently explores the quirks of modern life, family, relationships, social conventions, and the peculiar details people encounter in ordinary situations. His ability to find humor in familiar experiences makes his live appearances feel conversational while still offering plenty of surprises.

This special evening follows the publication of his most recent collection of short stories, The Land and Its People. Rather than simply presenting previously published material, Sedaris will share all-new, unpublished stories and commentary, giving attendees a chance to hear fresh work directly from the author. The combination of readings and commentary creates a live experience that allows his writing and delivery to work together, with the audience sharing in the timing, observations, and humor of the performance.

The event takes place at the War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco, providing an elegant setting for an evening centered on spoken word and live storytelling. Doors open at 7:00 PM, giving guests time to arrive and find their seats before the program begins at 8:00 PM.
