Coraline in Concert

Coraline in Concert

Step into the mysterious Other World and experience Coraline in a spectacular new way when Coraline in Concert arrives at the Curran Theatre in San Francisco on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 7:30 PM PT. Part of a global touring production, this spellbinding film-and-concert experience brings the beloved stop-motion classic to a towering screen while a live symphony orchestra performs Bruno Coulais’ acclaimed score in perfect synchronization with the movie.

Directed by visionary filmmaker Henry Selick, Coraline follows a curious young girl who discovers a strange parallel world hidden behind a mysterious door in her new home. At first, the Other World seems brighter, more exciting, and more perfect than reality. But Coraline soon discovers that this seemingly wonderful place conceals something much darker. Filled with imagination, suspense, humor, and unforgettable visual artistry, the film has become a beloved favorite among audiences of all ages.

With James Olmstead conducting, the live orchestra adds an entirely new dimension to the story. Bruno Coulais’ atmospheric score is central to the film’s distinctive mood, shifting between whimsical, mysterious, eerie, and dramatic passages. Hearing those haunting melodies performed live while the story unfolds on screen creates an immersive experience that allows audiences to appreciate the film’s music, visuals, and storytelling in a fresh way.

Based on Neil Gaiman’s 2002 children’s novel, Coraline combines a fantastical adventure with themes of courage, curiosity, family, and discovering the value of what is real. The concert presentation offers longtime fans a chance to rediscover the movie while introducing a new generation to its imaginative world.

Guests are even encouraged to embrace the spirit of the event by dressing up as their favorite Coraline character, making the evening especially fun for families, fans, and cosplay enthusiasts.

Doors open at 6:00 PM, ahead of the 7:30 PM PT performance at San Francisco’s historic Curran Theatre. The film is rated PG, and children under 5 are not permitted.

Whether you’re returning to the Other World for the first time in years or experiencing Coraline’s extraordinary adventure for the first time, Coraline in Concert promises an unforgettable evening where cinema, live orchestral music, and dark fantasy come together on one magical stage.
