Get moving at Thrive City with a two-part fitness experience designed to build strength, boost energy, and encourage mindful movement. Presented by Kaiser Permanente, the Weekly Fitness Classes series brings free fitness sessions to the Bay Area community throughout September, October, and November. The classes welcome participants of all fitness levels, making them a convenient opportunity to add movement to your routine, challenge yourself, or simply try something new.
The morning begins with Elevated Intervals – HIIT, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. This high-intensity interval training session combines short bursts of cardio with lower-body, upper-body, and core exercises. The varied format is designed to keep participants engaged while developing strength, endurance, and overall fitness. Whether you are familiar with HIIT or looking for an energetic way to start your day, the class provides a structured workout with plenty of movement.
From 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., participants can transition into Aligned – Pilates, a Pilates-inspired class that focuses on core conditioning while incorporating an extra dose of fitness intensity. The session offers a different pace and emphasis from the preceding HIIT workout, allowing participants to concentrate on controlled movement, core engagement, and body alignment.
Both sessions are led by Jai Mac Neil, a professor in the Kinesiology Department and Change Institute at the University of San Francisco. Mac Neil is also a performance coach for the Golden State Warriors, motivational speaker, and mindset specialist. She created the Self-Transformation Empowerment Program at USF, which focuses on empowering undergraduate and graduate students and developing leadership skills. Her professional experience includes working with organizations and individuals across sports, business, education, healthcare, and fitness.
Participants should bring a water bottle and exercise mat. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
