Little Bears Music Class Brings Rhythm, Movement and Family Fun to Thrive City

For families looking to make music a joyful part of the morning, Little Bears Music Class at Thrive City offers a lively introduction to rhythm, melody and self-expression. On Friday, September 4, families can bring their young music lovers to the Esplanade at the corner of Warriors Way and Terry A. Francois Boulevard for an interactive experience designed specifically around the needs and interests of young children.

The class is more than a simple sing-along. Little Bears teachers use music as a way to encourage socialization, musical appreciation and an embodied sense of rhythm and melody, giving children the freedom to explore sound through movement and participation. The result is an upbeat, welcoming environment where children can learn while dancing, singing, clapping and simply having fun.

Leading the musical adventure is Teacher Barb, a guitar-slinging musician whose repertoire spans timeless rock ’n’ roll, country, folk, blues and jazz classics, alongside original songs created especially for children and families. Her playful approach encourages young participants—and the adults accompanying them—to sing in tune, discover the beat, feel the rhythm and explore rhyme. It is the kind of class where active participation is part of the entertainment, and families may find themselves humming the songs long after they leave.

Two sessions make it possible to tailor the experience to different developmental stages. Babies and toddlers ages 3 and under can attend from 10 to 11 a.m., while preschoolers ages 4 to 6 have their own session from noon to 1 p.m.

Space is limited and available first-come, first-served, so families should plan to arrive early. After class, the fun can continue with lunch or treats at Thrive City’s restaurants and bars. Parking is available seven days a week at the Chase Center Garage at 99 Warriors Way, making this a convenient morning outing for families seeking music, movement and community.
