Vulfpeck Bring Their Signature Funk to the Stage with Jackie Evans
Get ready for a night of sharp grooves, infectious rhythms, and playful musicianship when Vulfpeck take the stage on Friday, October 16, 2026, with Jackie Evans joining the evening’s lineup. Doors open at 6:30 PM, with the show beginning at 8:00 PM, giving fans plenty of time to settle in before one of modern funk’s most inventive groups delivers its distinctive live sound.
Founded in 2011 by musicians who met while attending the University of Michigan’s music school, Vulfpeck built their identity around a love of classic American session music. Founder Jack Stratton envisioned the group as a fictional German counterpart to legendary 1960s U.S. rhythm sections such as the Funk Brothers, the Wrecking Crew, and the Muscle Shoals musicians. That concept became the foundation for a band that prizes tight arrangements, deep pocket grooves, economical songwriting, and exceptional instrumental chemistry.
The group features Stratton on keyboards, drums, and guitar, alongside Theo Katzman on guitar, drums, and vocals, Woody Goss on keyboards, and bass virtuoso Joe Dart. Their performances have also featured frequent collaborators and touring partners including Antwaun Stanley, Joey Dosik, and Cory Wong. This expansive musical circle has helped Vulfpeck develop a sound that can move effortlessly between funk, soul, jazz-inspired instrumentation, and playful pop sensibilities.
Vulfpeck are also known for doing things their own way. The fiercely independent band released music through its own label and famously created the silent Spotify album Sleepify, using its royalties to help fund an admission-free tour in 2014. In 2019, they reached another milestone by selling out New York’s Madison Square Garden without a manager or traditional record-label backing.
Their most recent album, Schvitz, arrived in December 2022, continuing the group’s celebration of groove-focused musicianship.
With Jackie Evans on the bill, the October 16 concert promises an energetic evening centered on rhythm, creativity, and live musical chemistry. For fans of funk, soul, instrumental virtuosity, and bands that refuse to follow the conventional playbook, Vulfpeck’s performance offers a chance to experience a uniquely independent musical phenomenon in a lively concert setting.
