Goldenvoice Presents Essex Honey Tour: Blood Orange on Friday, September 11, 2026, for an immersive evening of soulful sounds, atmospheric textures, and genre-defying artistry. Doors open at 7:00 PM, with the show beginning at 8:00 PM. The event is open to ages 6 and up.
At the center of Blood Orange is Devonté Hynes, the London-born producer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, director, and vocalist whose innovative work has established him as one of the most influential voices in contemporary music. Raised in England by Guyanese and Sierra Leonean immigrant parents, Hynes began his career as a teenage punk in the UK band Test Icicles before exploring a more orchestral and acoustic sound as Lightspeed Champion.
In 2011, Hynes introduced the Blood Orange project with Coastal Grooves, beginning a celebrated body of work that draws from R&B, soul, pop, electronic music, and experimental composition. His critically acclaimed 2016 album Freetown Sound established a powerful new chapter in his career, blending lush production with deeply personal reflections on race, identity, memory, and the experience of being Black in America. In 2018, Negro Swan continued that exploration, addressing themes of Black identity, vulnerability, and depression through an intimate and atmospheric sound.
Hynes expanded those ideas with the 2019 mixtape Angel’s Pulse, which he described as an epilogue to Negro Swan. His creative reach extends far beyond his solo recordings, with collaborations alongside Solange, FKA twigs, A$AP Rocky, Mariah Carey, and Janet Mock, among many others.
A celebrated composer and filmmaker as well, Hynes has created scores for Palo Alto and Queen & Slim, directed and edited Blood Orange music videos, and directed a video for Beck’s “Uneventful Days.” His diverse artistic career has also taken him to the Kennedy Center, where he performed alongside acclaimed composer Philip Glass.
Now, Blood Orange brings his expansive creative vision to the stage for the Essex Honey Tour. Expect an evening filled with richly layered sounds, emotional storytelling, soulful melodies, and striking musical artistry. Experience Blood Orange live on September 11, 2026, and discover why Devonté Hynes continues to redefine the possibilities of contemporary music.
