Lunar New Year, falling on February 10th in 2024, marks the beginning of the Year of the Dragon (Woo! the Year of the Dragon), one of the most significant festivals in Asian cultures. This ancient festival, aka Spring Festival in China, ushers in the lunar new year with family reunions and a plethora of symbolic foods & decorations intended to bring luck, health & prosperity to everyone.
The festivities span over two weeks, featuring fireworks displays, lively dragon and lion dances & streets adorned with red lanterns. In 2024, people around the globe will embrace the spirit of the Dragon, engaging in rituals that date back thousands of years. The Lunar New Year is not only a time for honoring ancestors and deities but also an occasion for cleansing away the old and making way for new beginnings. Whether through the giving of red envelopes (hongbao) filled with money to symbolize good wishes, or through the numerous events celebrating the occasion, Lunar New Year is a cultural celebration that is a good time for everyone.
